The Ultimate Hurricane Sandy Dining Guide to NYC - Hurricane ...

Hurricane Sandy Restaurant Watch Day 5: The lights are still off in lower Manhattan, but some downtown businesses are opening their doors and serving guests in whatever way they can. Also, many restaurants north of 34th Street are open, and tons of Brooklyn bars and restaurants are back in action. Here's an updated guide to what's open right now. Eater will continue to update this guide today, so do keep sending information to the tipline. A huge thanks to all the readers, chefs, and restaurateurs that sent in tips over since Sunday night.

Thursday, 2:15 p.m.:
Left Bank: This West Village restaurant has been open the past two nights, and will continue service tonight. Chef/owner Laurence Edelman is alone in the kitchen, his wife is manning the bar along with co-owner Micheline Gaulin, and one of their busboys is taking care of the rest. The menu for tonight will include: wild striped bass, grassfed ribeye, fiorentine with kid goat ragu, house-made sausage, and some vegetables.
Num Pang: The original, Union Square location is open and giving away FREE SANDWICHES while supplies last.
Russ & Daughters: Open till 5 p.m. today. One of the managers writes in: "We have a generator, and all of the fish was protected/saved."
4Food: Reopened this morning at 11 a.m., and will stay open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Sunday. Important note: All 86 seats have electrical outlets and the restaurant has free iPads for you to use, plus wifi.
Co. and Sullivan Street Bakery: Jim Lahey's pizzeria and both of his bakeries are OPEN for business.
Il Buco Alimentari: Grilling meat out on Great Jones Street:

The menu includes pork sausage, porchetta, roasted chicken, and ocotopus, plus bean salad and grilled polenta. Il Buco Alimentari will be out on the street till 6 p.m. tonight.
Seoul Garden: A tipster writes in: "Seoul Garden is open on 32nd between 5th and 6th. Perfect kimchee pancakes and outlets under every table."
The Guilty Goose: Open in Chelsea with a limited menu, plus beer and wine.
508 Gastrobrewery: Opening tonight with candlelight and a limited menu.
Hungry Ghost: Open, with coffee and Balthazar pastries.
Luzzo's: Get your pizza pies here, tonight.
Joe: From the official Twitter account: "We are halfway there: gct, uws, ues and Columbia are open. The 4 downtown shops should be open soon-ish."
The John Dory Oyster Bar and the Breslin: Both of these restaurants in the Ace Hotel are open for diners-only. The JDOB is open from noon till 10 p.m., and the Breslin is open from 7 a.m. till midnight.
Nitehawk Cinema: The movie theater and the restaurant are now open.
Zengo and Pampano: These Richard Sandoval restaurants are now open, business as usual.
Crown: John DeLucie's swanky UES restaurant is OPEN.
Casellula: Get your cheese and wine here from 5 p.m. till 2 a.m.
Corner Bistro: The Long Island City location is open and offering delivery. Call 718-606-6500 to have a Bistro Burger brought to your door.
Arthur on Smith: Open for lunch today and tomorrow, brunch on the weekends, and dinner seven nights a week. One of the employees at the restaurant notes: "We will stay open on our regular schedule as long as we get product in the doors!"
Barrio 47: Dinner by candlelight tonight.
The Spotted Pig: Opened for drinks last night, and open again today for drinks, coffee, and whatever food the kitchen can prepare from now till 10 p.m. A rep notes: "They are still without power, but want to provide a neighborhood gathering spot for people to enjoy the company of others." Glaze Teriyaki Grill: The Midtown location is open with limited delivery service.
Boqueria Soho: Open for sandwiches and drinks this afternoon (while supplies last). Tonight, the restaurant will also serve a limited menu of tapas, by candlelight. Here's a picture of the kitchen from last night:

Alobar: Open for dinner tonight in Long Island City.

5:20 p.m., Wednesday:
Boqueria: An employee writes in: "Boqueria's Soho location (171 Spring Street) will be opening this evening in the wake of the storm to offer guests dinner by candlelight beginning at 6 p.m. A limited tapas menu will be available as well as cocktails and house made sangria."

Pork Slope: Open late with food and drinks, plus a costume contest. Show up in costume and mention the contest to the bartender. They'll take your photo and contact info and if you win "best overall," you'll get two tickets to this weekend's Nets Game. If you win "kookiest costume," you'll score a free bar tab.
Armani Ristorante: Open for dinner.
Crave Fishbar: Back in action at 5:30 p.m.
Vinegar Hill House and Hillside: From owner Sam Buffa: "Vinegar Hill House and Hillside are open for all services with our entire menu! Powered up and ready to go!"
Terroir Park Slope: Open for business as usual.
Frank, 'Lil Frankies, and Supper: These three Frank Prisinzano restaurants are open tonight (Sauce is closed).
Thistle Hill Tavern: Open from 1 p.m. till 10 p.m. the rest of the week.
Noir: Open with a "Sandy special": 20 percent off wine and Champagne bottles all night.
ESquared Hospitality: Casa Nonna, BLT STeak, Go Burger Upper East Side, and Humphrey are all open tonight.
Pounds & Ounces: Hosting a "bring your own flashlight" party. Food, cocktails, candles, but no electricity just yet.
The John Dory and The Breslin: Both are open for dinners-only tonight.
Benares: The downtown location is still closed, but the Midtown branch is open for lunch and dinner as usual.
Barbuto: Get that roasted chicken TONIGHT.
Le Bernardin: Le open. (For both dinner and lunch tomorrow.)

Cucina & Co.: Open till 6 p.m.
PizzArte: Open, business as usual.
Maison Premiere: Opening for cocktails and oysters tonight starting at 4 p.m.
The Sea Grill: Now open for lunch till 3 p.m.
Arthur on Smith: Will open again for dinner tonight.
Marco Polo: This Carroll Gardens classic is open for lunch and dinner, with somewhat limited hours.
Seersucker: Open and offering fried chicken breakfast sandwiches to-go.
'Wichcraft: The Midtown, Midtown East, and Rock Center locations are open during regular hours and offering delivery. The kiosks in Herald Square and Greeley Square are open during regular hours, and so is the Bryant Park coffee kiosk. Also: free wifi.
Peels: Restaurateur William Tigertt sends word: "We are open today and going forward for coffee, pasties, bar, and sandwiches made at Isa, which still has power. We will be open tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m."
Cafe Sabarsky: Open all day with the full menu.
Hill Country Barbecue: Open, with plenty of smoked meat.
FireBird: Open for dinner from 5 to 9 p.m.
Tuffet: Opening all this week at noon, with Gimmee coffee, sandwiches, and cheese plates. Laptops welcome.
